HNN reported on the shortfall and lack of conclusive data on the need for connectivity and devices to effectively deliver virtual learning to our keiki.
Executive Director, Cheri Nakamura, noted that HE‘E, a coalition of organizations, parents, and community members dedicated to excellence in education noted that HE‘E sent a letter to the HI DOE last April asking about family access to Internet and devices. Parents for Public Schools of Hawai‘i is a voting member of HE‘E. Throughout this pandemic, HE‘E has hosted a weekly conference call with its members (listed below) and representatives of the HI DOE. These very productive meetings continue. HI DOE representatives are extremely helpful but often do not have the information sought.
